January 17-January 20

**The end of the second marking period is Tuesday.  We are half-way through the year!!!!!!

Assignments for the week:

• Read the new reading story "The Great Kapok Tree."  Write the definitions for the new vocabulary words on page 362.  Study the words, also.  On Wednesday, complete the Reader Response questions on page 378.
• Review the grammar workbook pages we complete in class.  On Thursday, complete page 137 in the small grammar book.
• Complete the spelling workbook pages nightly.  Pre-test will be on Thursday and the final test will be on Friday.
• Social Studies test on Wednesday.  Study the worksheets in your green folder.
• Complete Lesson 60 on Tuesday. There will be an Investigation on Wednesday.  The test will be on Thursday and a Benchmark test will be on Friday.

**The new vocabulary olympics words for the 3rd nine weeks will be coming home this week.  Please begin studying for the prefixes and suffixes.  Our first quiz will be next Friday.
